Mini Vacation

Last weekend Adrian and I headed to Galveston for a mini-vacation. We headed up Sunday morning and spent the day at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. We had a blast, it made us feel like kids again! Later that night we walked around the strand and had dinner. The next morning after breakfast and check out, we headed to the beach to relax before it was time to leave. Although we were only there for one night, it felt like a lot longer. It was the perfect little get-a-way for us two. It was sort of to celebrate our two birthdays and I told Adrian it could be our “Babymoon.” That is the new thing among pregnant couples: one last hurrah before the baby arrives. I think that is the closest we will get to a vacation for a couple of years!

Also, since the scorching summers have started in Houston, Adrian has been a trouper, driving around his ’93 Chevy Cavalier with no air conditioning. The car, with only 68,000 miles on it, was my grandfather’s car at one time. Well, the 100 degree afternoons (and the fact that the windows quit rolling down) drove Adrian to his breaking point. He couldn’t stand it anymore. In addition, we needed a “baby friendly” car in the next 7 months anyway. So we broke down and bought him a 2009 Nissan Versa. He loves it, and it is wonderful on gas mileage. I told him a car seat will look so cute in it!
